We first purchased this DVD after watching it at IMAX with our kids. We purchased it again through Ebay after our 2 year old accidentally broke it. This movie is fantastic - it is both educational and entertaining. The photography is beautiful and the music is good, too (we even have the CD). The movie gives the history of Jane Goodall's research into the chimpanzees and really captures her love of the animals and passion for her work. It inspires one to want to support her cause and care for the planet. It is appropriate for all ages and even holds the attention of my 2 year old. At the end, there is a nice little game/quiz my older kids (7 and 9) enjoy. Highly recommended.
This IMAX documentary has combined footage from the 1960s with recent film to present a snapshot of Jane Goodall's ground-breaking work with the chimpanzees of Gombe. The narration is largely by Jane Goodall and provides a personal introduction to the chimps and their individual personalities. It is a fascinating and well-presented film which engages the viewer at many levels. The documentary is around 40 minutes, but the DVD I have came with extras including the documentary with the director's commentary and 15 minutes of behind the scenes.
Loved it.

If you are interested in primate behavior, human or otherwise, you cannot fail to appreciate this documentary. Even though this film is a few years old now, it reflects the Jane Goodall who is still quite active in the field of primate-studies even today. This film is classic in every way. I loved both the history and the science. You will too. Excellent throughout!
So heartwarming! I love Jane Goodall. My children (8 & 5) loved this DVD. So did I. The viewer is introduced to chimps and some great footage of Jane interacting with them. You will also learn about chimps use of tools and some of their unique behaviors.
It's a nice little story for kids. it is a short little biographuy of jane goodall. the cinima aspect is directed towads children. there is precious little delving into either the psychology or sociology of chipanzees. it is very nice for children under 12. i think after that age there should be a higher level of educational value. But, like i said, it is a very nice piece for children.
Anyone who knows of Jane Goodall and her work will love this DVD. The footage is absolutely beautiful and these little chimps will steal your heart. I especially loved the early films of Jane and the "behind the scene" previews. I highly recommend this DVD to everyone who loves animals.
I really liked it. I like all of Jane Goodall's programs and books. I purchased this product because of Jane Goodall.
