This is my first ever music review, so please refrain from being overly critical. Bryan Adams is an iconic figure in music, from the 80s and 90s. He certainly is recognisable both in terms of appearance, music style and image. He is most known for his mix of popular and rock offerings primarily from both his major breakthrough 4th album, "Reckless", and his major comeback 6th album "Waking Up The Neighbours". The former being reknowned for its' unstoppable string of hits it produced, most notable being his signature tune, "Summer Of '69", and the latter released almost parallel with the contemporary Kevin Costner film "Robin Hood Prince Of Thieves" (1991) which Adams supported with his arguably most successful track, "Everything I Do I do It for You". His other albums are less well known. Any self - respecting Bryan Adam fan should be aware of the earlier pre - "Reckless" breakthrough success of his 3rd album "Cuts Like A Knife", (especially the title - track), and his in - between, darker and moderately successful 5th album, "Into the Fire", known primarily for its' opening track "In The Heat Of The Night". And that may well be the limit of most regular Adams fan's knowledge. Two Premier success major - major albums, and two resonably successful 2nd - tier successes, along with two his post - "Waking Up The Neighbours" standalone singles, "Please Forgive Me" and "All For Love",(trio with Sting and Rod Stuart) are the commonly recognised Adams landmarks. Well, "You Want It You Got It" is part of the complete picture of Bryan Adams, and a arguably less known piece of the picture. It is his pre - earlier breakthrough 2nd album, much less known, but quite interesting. It is a more downbeat, controlled and slightly darker/more sophisticated work then his raw, and unahamedly upbeat self - titled debut album. This (You want it...) is a very precise and skilled pop release. It follows a fairly popular pattern common of albums of its' era. It opens forthrightly with the upbeat hi tempo "Lonely Nights", then follows up with the more considered and markedly less happy "One Good Reason", only to open out strongly with the fastbeat and rhymic "Don't Look Now". Common for most early eighties albums, 4th - up is a ballad, "Coming Home" then the all - out drum - saturated lively "Fits Ya Good". 6th - up (and the side - two opener for a cassette - release) is the fast/lively "Jealousy" fittingly setting up for the moody, dark ballad about relationship blues; "Tonight". The title track is next, itself a considered and slightly experimental for its' time - middle of the road pop track. The 2nd to last is the unremarkable standard pop number, "Last Chance", and the album finishes on the mild and gentle ballad - "No One Makes It right". I feel that "You Want It You Got It" (album) is an under - rated release, unjustly overshadowed by his later releases...but it is easy to appreciate how this happened, when you listen to the more impactful "Cuts Like A Knife" (album) or the neverending plateau of success of "Reckless". "You Want It You Got It" and the self - titled "Bryan Adams, Bryan Adams" before it both represent a bygone era of music where even Adams was more pop - oriented and also subject to the early eighties romantic period of the time long before he broke into a more pop/rock, rock and "rock and ballad" mix of albums he became later known for. Buy Bryan Adams "You Want It you Got It" either if you are a fan, or enjoy the early eighties style.Read full review

this is one of his albums that i did not have. I went to see him live on Monday at the secc glasgow, and my cd came the next day while i was still on a high i have now seen him 8 times.
One of Bryan Adams's early albums, this is a great mix with something for everyone. That earthy voice comes through beautifully! Highly recommended
