dave allen was a great raconteur ,his tv programmes were watched by millions,those days pc incorrect but clever & funny,but the comedy had a grain of truth in it,which made it so watchable.

Disappointing and atypical.
This was a poor selection of Dave Allen's best, and omitted nearly all his most priceless comedy acts that I was hoping for. Because thee was no comprehensive list of acts on the cover, I was reduced to taking a chance, but made a bad choice and was extremely disappointed; Nothing I was hoping for was included, and those that were were second-rate, and nowhere near his best, high quality performances. I was looking for a gift for someone who would have shared Dave Allen's humour at its best, but as I was not given proper information I did not proceed. It occurs to me that full details were deliberately omitted, in order to increase sales, which is hugely disappointing.This was a poor selection of Dave Allen's best, and omitted nearly all his most priceless comedy acts that I was hoping for. A welcome addition in the development of comedyand the national culture
Due to the apparent lack of commercially available material I found this a welcome addition as Dave Allen was such a big part of the national culture, extending beyond mere comedy terms,in the early Seventies. Coupled with the recent documentary on his life and work on BBC,I think this dvd makes a valuable as well as very welcome addition to documenting 'our times' and hope there is enough existing material to allow for further examples of this very popular comedian in the near future,whose irreverant ,but ultimately kindly view on humanity significantkly added to the culture of the day.Due to the apparent lack of commercially available material I found this a welcome addition as Dave Allen was such a big part of the national culture, extending beyond mere comedy terms,in the early Seventies. Dave - a gone LEGEND!
Dear reader and Ebayer! I´m a swede - and not a catholic. I first "met" this superb comedian in the early 70s on the swedish television when they sent a lot of some 30 minutes episodes where he´s sitting in his famous chair before the public, sometimes smoking and having a glass or two! ;-) )of scotch. From the very first frame I almost loved him and the way he presented the infamous hypocrisy of the catholic church! These films were full of jokes about these priests and about what they meant to Ireland. In no frame I´ve picked up any obscene languages or gestures! Nowadays they are far to common and most of the time they ruin the joke - but Dave seem to not allow such a low level. This DVD brings back great memories for me of sitting watching this amazing comedian at home with the family 50 years ago ,dont buy if easily offended by religious jokes ,it was comedy of it's time and needs to be remembered as such ,but to me it is very funny
