    A spine-tingling and suavely performed adventure

    Writer, director Michael Crichton, of Jurassic Park fame, took note of an actual crime, history's first train robbery in 1855, then put his creative mind to work to figure out how he might do it, then penned the novel, The Great Train Robbery, w all the runaway action, adventure and suspense he could muster, peopled it w some better characters than the original heisters, put more mischief, misbehavior and fun in it than any train robber might conceive, and came up w a 1975 best selling crime novel. So popular that Crichton was coaxed into writing the screen play for the film that he then directed for producer John Foreman in 1978. A tale about how to steal a fortune in gold bars from a heavily-guarded moving railway train has to have the right characters involved to be successful. Sean ...
