About this product

Product Information

Why Women Have Sex is a fascinating exploration of the mysteries underlying women's sexuality that rivals the culture-shifting Kinsey Report. Why do women have sex? Is it purely for pleasure or the desire to reproduce? In their ground-breaking book, clinical psychologist Cindy Meston and evolutionary psychologist David Buss investigate the underlying sexual desires of women and identify 237 distinct motivations for sex. Drawing on more than a thousand intensive interviews conducted solely for the book, as well as their pioneering research on physiological response and evolutionary emotions, Meston and Buss give us a remarkably complex and nuanced portrait of female sexuality. They explore the use of sex as a defensive tactic against a man's infidelity (protection), as a ploy to boost self-confidence (status), as a barter for gifts (resource acquisition), or even as a cure for a headache (medication). Why Women Have Sex explores the deep-seated psychology and biology of female sexuality, and promises to inform every woman's - and her partner's - awareness of her relationship to sex and her own sexuality.

Item was as described and arrived well packaged. Price was reasonable. Dispatch of item was a little on the slower side, but it arrived safely and in good conditoon, so can overlook it to be fair. Seller replies quickly to messages and answers any questions well. Once it was dispatched it arrived quickly. Over all, happy with purchase and would buy from again.

This book is new and is as described in the listing. A slow dispatch was not due to the seller as a third party was responsible for packaging and sending it. The item was eventually delivered by Royal Mail well within the period dates shown. Having purchased from this seller previously a feature of both purchases was the slow dispatch for which the seller is not responsible.

Cover shown on website didn’t match that of book sent. (I’d anticipated the lovely cover art as illustrated.) The book sent has disappointing cover artwork of later or earlier edition. My fault rather than a complaint. Should have contacted seller before ordering, as I did with previous Paul Gallico book I'd ordered from same seller, who were very helpful. (On that occasion I did get the book/cover I wanted.) Moral of the story: check with seller if this sort of thing is important to you.
