    This film has bite

One of the best Stephen King adaptations.this is a vampire story set in the town of Salems Lot. Photography is top class. Running time over 3 hours. Stars David Soul, James Mason, Elisha Cook Jr and Geoffrey Lewis.Story builds slowly but always keeps interest and is well recommended.

picture WORSE than the Region 1 DVD

Quality of picture WORSE than the Region 1 DVD! Grain much in evidence in sky shots - absent from the DVD. Much vintage material should simply NOT be released on Blu-ray unless to a 4K standard of restoration. Gave it away to a charidee shoppe. Waste of money.Disappointed.

  • What a movie

I remember the first time I ever watched this. I was knee high to a grasshopper 😂 and boy was I terrified. I watched it as a mini series and back then it was fantastic and today it is still fantastic. This movie is on for just over 3 hour’s i never watch a movie that long but this one I did and the 3 hours flew over. This is David soul at his very best. A much underrated actor. Given the right parts he is a fantastic actor.

  • Salem's lot

I watched this as a mini series when it first aired on TV, I loved it then and love just as much today! It's very atmospheric and has an underlying sense of dread! James Mason is both charming and sinister in equal measure, it's well written and well acted by all the cast, especially David Soul, Bonnie Bedelia and Lee Ayres. I highly recommend this movie and it's something I will enjoy watching time and again.

  • 99.9% faultless story telling and simmering horror.

Stephen Kings books made into film either get it spot on or flop for a series of many reasons. This was first a TV series, not a movie and yet its quality is high and the content good fast and simmering. I saw it "live" on TV at the time and it has stayed a strong favourite ever since. There are only three horror films that I prefer not to watch alone. The Blair Witch Project, The old B&W classic Dead of Night and this one, Salem's Lot. The skill of the director gives the impression of claustrophobic imprisonment in the small town of Salem. Everything is so normal and routine, until certain characters are drawn there for different reasons. The pace increases as does the tension to a marvellous ending which is well worth the wait. We all may have our favourite Stephen King cinematic story but this is in the top three for me. I recommend you see this, so wind the clock back to 1980 and soak up the community spirit, all is about to change.

  • Salems lot bluray

Hadnt seen this film in years and its still great! Transfer to bluray is really good considering the age of the film, probably one of the best king adaptations along with 'It' well worth the money.

  • Salem's Lot.

In my opinion, the best of the many adaptations of Stephen King's novel. Even after 40+ years it really holds up as a scary and tense horror. Blu ray gives it a new lease of life - or should that be death?! Very highly recommended.

  • Classic TV series

I remember this as a kid it was shown over 2 nights everyone at school was talking about it next day, it has been remade since the 70s but for me this is still the best version
