      Pretty good, could have been a lot better.

      Jeremy Brett, as everyone knows, is the ultimate Holmes, with David Burke and Edward Hardwicke very able as the younger and older Watson. Some of these episodes are absolutely spot on, while others stagger a little under the weight of additional plot and dialogue. The worst offenders are three of the five feature length outings - these are no more than short stories impossibly stretched out beyond any chance of success, the most wretched being "The Last Vampyre": awful stuff. Having said all that, there is much good here, the period feel, locations, cast etc., and the remaining two films of the long stories: "The Hound Of The Baskervilles' and "The Sign Of Four" are first class in every way. A great pity Brett did not live to complete the series.

      Some of the best TV of the '80's

      These Sherlock Holmes adaptations are robust and stuffed with well dressed sets, brilliant locations and most excellent acting. My daughter who grew up with the recent TV Sherlock which is set in the current day has been mesmerised watching these original stories. A must for costume drama fans who appreciate brilliant acting - Jeremy Brett - say no more.

      Outstanding value for money

      I have been looking for the box set after enjoying the series and was astonished by the value of this product the complete series in as new condition for just over £5 post free! Having never really enjoyed the recent Sherlock Holmes adaptations I watched one of the Granada TV series with Jeremy Brett as Sherlock and was hooked. Jeremy really took the Holmes character to heart and is outstanding in the lead role. Thoroughly recommended, you may like me then start reading the original Conan Doyle books and discovering Sherlock Holmes for yourself.

      I am a big fan of Jeremy Brett and could not pass over the opportunity to have all the Sherlock Holmes stories which were so expertly done by Granada with Jeremy in the lead role in one collection. Now I can watch whenever I want to. A very good buy, thoroughly recommended!
