About this product

Product Information

Starring cult actor Christopher Lambert (HIGHLANDER, MORTAL KOMBAT), NIRVANA is an Italian cyberpunk film that considers the implications of artificial intelligence. Jimi (Lambert) is a computer programmer who has just finished a new game, called Nirvana. But he is shocked to discover that Solo, the protagonist of Nirvana, has developed self-awareness. Solo tires of being forced to enact the same scenario again and again, and asks Jimi to shut the game down before it is made available to the public and has to live his hellish existence forever. But in order to do so, Jimi will have to recruit the services of a mysterious hacker to get into his company's files, where Nirvana is stored. In the mold of Cronenberg's EXISTENZ, NIRVANA was directed by Gabriele Salvatores (I'M NOT SCARED, MEDITERRANEO).

  • Excellent film Bizarre Charecters & settings Funny absurd

Plot, Setting & production is Blade Runner, Johnny Mnemonic, & Shadowrun meets Theater of the Absurd--Cyberpunk 21st euro style. Cast and direction are great. Great music. Finally English subtitles! Yes this is Italian movies with voice dubs (there is a Mill Creek version on a scifi box set that wasn't a good print and garbled the audio), but can be hard to follow with the in movie sland and concepts.

  • The Highlander in a Simulation

Very good movie. This and The Thirteenth Floor, even Existenz came out around the same time and were ignored and forgotten where the Matrix stood out. These movies today in my mind still hold up and are still fun to watch where I never want to see the Matrix again. Just people dance fighting in black leather.
