The Evil Within puts players in the role of detective Sebastian Castellanos when he is sent to investigate the scene of a mass murder at a former mental asylum only to find himself fighting for his life against malevolent undead creatures roaming a nightmare-induced world. <br><br>Tension and fear is ratcheted up as players must locate limited ammunition while also setting traps to defeat monsters in constantly warping environments that twists all sense of reality. As the game unfolds, players will acquire melee weapons to defeat enemies, but will also rely on stealth and hiding to slip past undetected as they search for the origin of the evil force.

    A beautiful mess.

    It is not the greatest game ever made... Not in the grand scheme of things was it special in it's genre, but it released at a time when all other IPs in the survival horror genre were either non existent or struggling. + Interesting story + Gripping and intense ambiance + Creeps you out really good + Unique combat mechanics with the corpse burning. - slightly dated graphics - controls a little clunky If you liked resident evil 4 you will like this game.

    THE EVIL WITHIN REVIEW BY GARRETT

    This game plays similarly to Resident Evil 4 which is a good thing. The story is compelling. The environments contribute to an unrelenting chill-factor. I liked the way the A.I. was programmed to react to some of your attacks to make you think a bit more about how to go about dispatching an enemy. The weapons and the ability to upgrade them along with your abilities added even more dimension to the game. This game is one of the best survival horror games out there. Think the matrix meets resident evil in terms of the horror sci-fi-esque story line.

    MUST HAVE SURVIVAL HORROR EXPERIENCE

    I've seen a few bad reviews for this game and I just don't understand! controls are a bit clunky at first but become natural fairly quickly. this is horror at its finest.. easily one of the best horror games I've ever played. if you're a fan of resident evil or silent hill, this is right up your alley. tip for beginners: the agony crossbow is awesome and will become your best friend!

    Great Game!! Must play for Horror fans.

    I love this game. I had this game originally on Xbox one but now I play primarily on PlayStation 4. I wanted to pick up the second game and found a great bundle for both. The game is one of my favorites to play through with my fiancé. (it's single player, we just like playing it together.) I was happy to pick it up again for the PlayStation and am excited to play through the second game. Highly recommended. Great story and fun to play through. It's challenging and strategic with the upgrade system.
