    Small Complicated And Great Fun

    I bought the first generation LX100 which is fine for my modest needs: photos up to four by six mostly and social media. The only feature of the $900 Mark2 model that I like is the in-camera charging as I don’t like touch screen and don’t need more mega pixels. I like Panasonic menus as they are comprehensive and offer infinite customization which overwhelms some but that and no changing of lenses suits me fine. However this camera is a complicated little bundle to operate with dials and stops instead of electronics. If you want to stretch your digital chops this camera is a handful and will do that. You can go to instant auto with one press of a button if you get stuck but plan on sitting down and learning this fascinating little package if you dare to buy it. Not for the faint of heart ...

    Amazing Camera in such a small package

    I previously owned the LX5, and loved that little camera despite its shortcomings. Then upgraded to the Lumix GH2, which allowed me to start collecting various fun lenses, and enjoy top-of-the line video quality. Then upgraded to the 5D mark III, and collected even more lenses. Then I realized that leaving the house with the camera had become a bit of a chore. Will I take my 80mm f1.4 or my 8mm fisheye or will it be my vintage 58mm f2.0 or the 100-300mm, or what about the 14mm f2.0, or should I just take them all just in case? Ah, it's too much of a hassle to lug around and swap lenses; I'll just leave the camera at home. I gradually really started to miss the simplicity and directness of my old LX5. I missed having a camera that was easy to take everywhere. I missed the point and ...

    Very Nice Camera

    I'm just getting familiar with this camera, but so far, I'm very impressed. The image quality is quite good. Focusing is sharp, and the fast lens enables you to shoot in low-light situations without a flash. I even shot some handheld photos of fireworks at night and they came out well. The zoom is somewhat limited, as it tops out at the equivalent of 75 mm. But if you're like me, the vast majority of pictures that I take are at the maximum wide angle. I haven't shot any video with it yet, so I can't comment on that. Still, if you're looking for an alternative to a DSLR that takes good photos and is easier to carry around, this definitely fits the bill.

    It is a little corky to get started setting the menu up but once you do, it is a dream to use with video and/or stills and especially timelapse. I Love it! P.S. Learn to use the memory settings to hold your programs C1 C2 C3.
