Director Clint Eastwood delves into the mysterious world of the hereafter with this ensemble supernatural drama starring Matt Damon, Cécile De France, Jay Mohr, and Bryce Dallas Howard. In the wake of a near-death experience during a powerful tsunami, French television reporter Marie (De France) takes her married lover's advice to pen the political book she has always talked about writing. As hard as Marie tries to stay focused on the task at hand, however, she repeatedly finds her attention diverted to scientists who have been stigmatized for investigating the afterlife. Meanwhile, in America, reluctant psychic George (Matt Damon) struggles in vain to cease using his powers for profit while falling for a gorgeous stranger (Bryce Dallas Howard). All the while, his greedy brother (Jay Mohr) prods him to milk his ability for all it's worth. Over in London, a pair of inseparable twins is forcibly parted by tragedy when one of them dies suddenly. The harder the more introverted surviving twin (Frankie McLaren) attempts to reach out to his deceased brother in the afterlife, the deeper his mom sinks into heroin addiction. When his mother goes into rehab, the grieving boy is placed in foster care, and begins succumbing to his corrosive ennui.

    Lightweight with great features.

    The tsunami cinematography is well done. Also, the weaving together of 3 persona stories is well done. The ending was a little melodramatic, but overall I found the movie satisfying.

    DVD NEW, in perfect condition! At least half of this movie is foreign with subtitles- that because of my TV? or some reason I could not see to read as it was cut off. SO, it was hard to follow and get the full story line. Otherwise, well cast and probably a dencent movie!

    exciting and realistic

    A special type of movie. Not for everyone. This story is about people who meet under unusual circumstances of fate. New friends being made and lives intertwining as a result of these happenings. It is a rather mellow movie, but with strong story line and plot. I liked this movie because of the players ( acting people ) and their ability to play their parts as a whole. Also I am a Damon fan too....

    The trailer for the movie is better than the movie. The movie is far too long and barely touches on the use of the "gift" Matt Damon is seen so little, it's like there is no main character at all, along with the wandering plot. Frustration and boredom at the same time.

    It's OK

    The main reason we bought it was that we had an exchange student from France and his mother had a small part in it, so we wanted to see the movie. A lot was in French which we don't speak or understand so we had to read the captions. Since we are not use to doing this, it boiled down to watching the movie or trying to read the captions.
