About this product

Product Information

This is the first ever book devoted to the popular hobby of roundabout spotting. A self-confessed traffic-island fanatic, author Kevin Beresford has travelled the length and breadth of the country to record the very best of the species, which range in scope from humble painted minis to magnificent landscaped beauties. Some feature works of art or are wildlife havens, others are sources of local history or simply have that certain something that sets them apart. Featuring over 80 of his favourites in glorious full-colour, he offers advice on the practical side of the pastime, with an exposition of the traffic-island's colourful history, following its French and American roots through to the first British roundabout in Letchworth and up to the present day.

  • Excellent book. Happy to own something quite unusual.

I learned of the passion for Roundabouts whilst watching a programme about Crafts and how cards completely miss the things that really interest men. The presenter blurted out that they were interested in things like Roundabouts and Garden Sheds. I immediately looked the book up on E-bay and there were plenty to choose from. The book is supposed to be 'amusing' and has the word 'humour' on the back as a description. The 'introduction' is one of the best I have ever read and gives detailed reasons as to how the book came to be. I have rated this a 4 out of 5 because I think the book needs just a little bit more work. One or two photos need to be re-taken as the lighting is poor. I felt one or two photos showing those glorious array of flowers in the Summer would liven things up too. ...

  • I love quirky things like this.

Would have liked the book to be larger (bigger pictures). Would also have liked an index of places featured.

  • GOOD BOOK FOR ANORAKS.

I bought this for my son after he saw Jeremy Clarkson laugh at it on Top Gear. To my surprise, everyone he's shown it to has started reading it. There is no index or list of towns. Perhaps this was intentional to get people to read the whole book in search of their favourite roundabout. I can't believe I'm actually spending my day off typing a reveiw of a book about roundabouts-must get a life. M
