    A Remarkable politician's life story

A very honest and moving biography of a remarkable man who wants to follow his dream. It is very well written with humorous anecdotes and descriptions of true pictures of what life was like for black people. It also shows his tremendous courage under difficult circumstances and clearly describes how to cope with being the son of mixed race parents. An excellent thought provoking book.

  • From Dreams To Reality

I bought this book as it was on one of my daughter's "extra" reading lists. I read the first few pages out of curiosity but have to admit that I was quickly hooked. To say that I was amazed to find Obama had a natural skill as an author is an understatement.I could not help but be impressed by the powerfully descriptive and honest methods of writing that he uses in this book. I knew nothing of his background before reading this.I only knew that I was awed by the achievement and dedication he'd shown to become President. Now I know the other problems and disappointments he and his family faced in the past,it reinforces my belief that Obama is a remarkable man. I'll certainly read his other book and I hope that eventually he will find time to write more.

  • Subtle and compelling

Informative account of the dynamics and meaning of father-son relationship. Applies to all of us, not just the exotic or exceptional or disadvantaged.

  • Good but

While I'm enjoying reading it, I cannot agree with some of the hype. It's interesting but hardly gripping.
