Notes
Casting Shadows was constructed with the idea that the undertone of every song would be tied back to a common feeling of betrayal and hope, power and depression, regret and nostalgia, inspiration and the fire of creativity. It was recorded in the relaxed atmosphere of friend Jeff Tassin's studio, allowing additional creative writing process to take place. In a manner, Torre learned their songs for the first time while sitting with each other in the studio, yelling and laughing about things hardly relevant to the music itself. Aurora starts this 13 track album, with amazing drive and high energy, by showcasing the band's love of dynamics and emotional musical expression. This theme is carried on throughout, from the beautiful simplicity of The World is Coming Down and the acoustic-driven sound of Elizabeth Road to the heavy-hitting punch of Atlantic and the memorable melodies of Cheap Wine, which will easily get stuck in your head. This album offers over an hour of solid rhythm guitar, unique bass lines, masterful percussion, genuine lyrics and colorful strings, making Casting Shadows...universally enjoyable!
