Electronic ignition for MGB
My 4th electronic ignition (various brands) in 40 years of owning my car. A great improvement over the standard contact breaker. In each case failure of the output transistor occurred at different times. This unit is new so cannot comment on the reliability but so far so good. I prefer the use of the contact breaker over electronic switching as the sensitive electronic components are kept out of the distributor where temperatures are high. The reduced current in the contact breaker should provide much improved reliabilty. I note the case does not appear to be sealed neither are the 4 leads protected by a suitable grommet. Both little things that would help long-term reliability. I cannot comment on the output transistor spec. as I do not have it but this is often the weak link. In ... In my experience a large metal cased power transistor suitably rated to handle the current and backlash from the coil bolted to a large heat sink would be best practice. It appears that the case acts as the heatsink here. Time will tell regarding reliability. I like the ability to switch over to conventional ignition if necessary. Also the ability to use the LED indicators to statically time the ignition is very useful.

Universal for cars not motorbikes
Not absolutely universal as did not work on my BSA single. Good communication with manufacturer found problem was probably that it needs a short points cam dwell, as is normal on cars.

A must-have for all cars still using points/distributors.
Well-made, easy to fit and, put simply, it works. It provides noticeably smoother running and, possibly, slightly more power whilst at the same time dispensing with any need to check/re-set the points or be at risk of a breakdown from condenser failure. It also offers remarkable value for money.

Great bit of kit
If you have a classic car, this is ideal. You can set up the electronic ignition AND keep your points based ignition. Four wires to connect, no timing alterations to worry about and if the electronic ignition should give you grief, just flick a switch and the points kick in. What's not to like?
