unfortunately, I was sent a book with a different cover, and it was grubby. That doesn't change the fact that this is a classic book and my granddaughter will love it.

Fast delivery, items generally in good condition, good multi-buy deal, but one item not in stock and I had to query its non-arrival to find this out. I did, however, receive a prompt and courteous response and a refund for the missing item. Overall, fairly pleased.

Not at all lightweight - well written and un-put downable!

A classic. George Orwell had an uncanny knack of predicting how certain trends in society could be exploited. Their weaknesses used to the determent of society as a whole. Free speech and even to be in love could (and in the book) was forbidden and punished. Constant surveillance with the use of cameras was everywhere. The spirit to resist was broken and the reader follows the progress of a doomed love affair.

  • Excellent read for todays working class people.

Like the author`s books always speaks the truth of the downtrodden working class people in our society. Which is relevant today in 2024.
