This Repair Kit Works
After watching an online video had a go at this repair. It is not a job for anyone witout some practical skills as the dryer has to be taken apart and rebuilt. However this kit does work and seems to be lasting the test of use.

Hotpoint drum shaft repair kit
Kit contains everything needed to replace the tumble dryer drum shaft and bearing. Looks as good as the original - time will tell if it lasts. Easy to fit once the drum has been removed from the machine and the old rivets drilled out with a 5.5mm drill bit. Excellent price, very happy.
