One of the worst films I have ever sat through. I bought it because I am a Jack Trevor Story completist, and he wrote (or rather co-wrote) the screenplay. Very disappointing! You might buy it if you are a Spike Milligan completist. Spike is the star of the film and is credited for some of his own dialogue. And you might love it, of course. Don't let me put you off.
I stumbled across this minor gem, while searching for films that included the excellent British actress, Barbara Shelley. This is a harmless little 60's comedy and mainly a vehicle for the talents of Spike Milligan, although his true zany comic talent, wasn't exploited to the full here. I found the clever little site gags to be the highlite of this film ... Blake Edwards fans would enjoy this I'm sure ... and one characters escapades, bare more than a passing resemblance to one of Peter Sellers most famous screen creations. Barbara Plays the love interest to Spikes well meaning country postman. The two meet up when Spikes character is transferred to a Busy London sorting office. It is here that he is mistaken for a thief, by both the police and a criminal gang intent on robbing the sorting office. His subsequent training for his job and pursuing by police and gang are the main basis for some entertaining site gags. All in all, I found this a very engaging and likeable comedy. Very much of it's time, but no less enjoyable as a result.Read full review
