This is another John Corey/Kate Mayfield novel and an excellent book in classic DeMille style. He takes a little bit of fact and a little bit of fiction and stirs up a whole lot of controversial ideas and superior reading. We may never know what brought TWA Flight 800 down off the coast of Long Island on July 17, 1996, but DeMille makes us sit up and take notice of the theories based on fact, and whets our appetites for more and more information. It's another of his 'can't-put-down' books, and even though the government has come up with all the 'official' answers, you're left with a gnawing feeling that something is still missing long after you've finished the book. Corey and his wife, Kate look for their own answers after attending a five-year reunion service for the 230 victims of the tragedy. Even though they've been warned to let sleeping dogs lie, they can't ignore the 200 witnesses who claim they saw a streak of red-hot light and smoke shooting up from the horizon, locking onto the ill-fated plane and disappearing into the bowels of it just before it exploded in a fireball into the sea. Corey gets sucked into the maelstom by his wife's mysterious behavior concerning the possibility of an actual tape of the events leading up to the crash. There is talk of a couple where they should not have been, doing what they should not have been doing. Married, but not to each other, they videotaped themselves having sex on the moonlit beach and went away with a lot more than they bargained for. Whether or not you are a DeMille fan, you MUST read this book!! You may just find you a new 'best author' as well as a new 'cause'. Wonderful book!!!Read full review
