About this product

Product Information

David Copperfield (1849-50) was Dickens's favorite novel: 'Of all my books', he wrote, 'I like it the best.' Strikingly autobiographical in its childhood scenes, it relates David's history from birth to young manhood, and the host of characters he meets on his journey of self-knowledge: Mr Micawber, the Peggottys, Betsey Trotwood, Steerforth and Uriah Heep among them.

  • Text is Fine. Illustrations Badly Done.

This book was in lovely condition and was very much "as advertised," but I was very disappointed in the printing quality of the illustrations. I just read David Copperfield on kindle and decided to buy a nice copy of the book so that I would have easy access to the wonderful, iconic even, illustrations by Phiz. Sadly, the light blurry quality of the illustrations here look like bad xeroxes of camera phone photos of a TV screen. Text is fine. Illustrations not. Missed opportunity.

  • Great series, love the illustrations and the book!

Excellent book - loved the illustrations too! If you're looking for an unabridged edition, this is it. Wonder where on earth the idea ever came to abridge a classic book!
