This is one of Chandler's most famous crime novels featuring the detective Philip Marlowe. The suspect in the case is Moose Malloy, a small time criminal who is looking for a girl he used to know. Marlowe enters the case out of curiosity, but soon becomes embroiled in a trail of corpses. Chander's other novels included The Big Sleep and The Long Goodbye . He also wrote screen plays for such films as Double Indemnity and The Blue Dahlia , which were both nominated for an Oscar.
