Mark known as Rammers to his mates was 8 weeks into his tour of duty and leading a patrol through the desert when he stepped on a landmine that tore off both his legs and his right arm. The horrific explosion which, the race to airlift him out and the story of how surgeons battled to keep him alive in the helicopter is described in graphic detail. But it was Mark's response to the news of the seriousness of his wounds which has passed into Marine Corps legend- No shit. I guess my dancing days are over then.
