Straps are made of mesh, and it soaks up too much sweat making it stink and needing to wash everytime if used for outdoor high intensity use. If same material they can be easily wiped off with disinfectant spray. Outer pocket should have a zip that you close if need are kept open for larger protruding items. Material is sturdy nylon. Inner zipper we pocket.

Used to carry a couple of lightweight jackets that we'd take out or stow as needed, power bank, umbrella, water, snack bars, & small souvenirs. Also tossed items inside when going through security checks. Storage pocket becomes zippered inside pocket when backpack is unfolded and great for loose change/other small items. Outside pocket gave quick access for caps, tissues, whatever.

I like the large outside pocket with a strap and buckle to secure it. At first I thought it may not be big enough. However, the large outside pocket helps in carry capacity. Should be good for day trips on vacation.
