The features and customizability are rather disappointing for something this expensive. This replaced an $800 Pioneer unit that was failing, and that one had so many more capabilities. This unit is very limited in what you can set up, like favorites/shortcuts. They make a big deal about that, then it turns out you can only set a very tiny number of things as favorites. The default startup display can be set to two options only; neither of which is Carplay, which is all I use. You can't remove junk from the screen like Pandora. On the Pioneer all of this was customizable, and I could favorite things like showing the rear camera all the time when towing my trailer. To get the camera just takes a few steps now, but why not allow it as a favorite? There's no auto-tune option, as most other brands have. You can tune it using the app, which is nice, but it's all done by hand and your own ear. Disappointing. And saving changes in the app really sucks, because any minor change has to be saved as a whole new set of settings. The app forces you to enter not just the name, but useless info like a description and genre. So tweaking details is time-consuming. Switching between programs requires using the app, I couldn't find any way to quickly change the settings on the head unit. I like to switch to different settings for music versus podcasts. It takes effort on this unit. The touchscreen works very well, and the display is nice. But it's a little bit too white/light, and...get this...there's no way to adjust it! You can adjust the camera/video display, but not the menus and control displays. Touch is more responsive than most other radios and seems quite accurate. The buttons are also a good size and easy to press. There are a variety of options for colors of the buttons and the backgrounds. Overall control usability is excellent. I neglected to check for a firmware upgrade before putting the dash back together. Guess what you have to do to install firmware? REMOVE THE RADIO so you can get to the port on the back. Crazy. Every other head unit I've owned could take firmware without having to access the back. Sound quality seems normal for something in this price. I have an upgraded OEM system, which is really the limitation on sound quality in my vehicle, compared to a good aftermarket system. After a little tweaking I have no complaints about sound.Read full review
