Synopsis
When Bea uncovers a terrifying secret she has a chance to save a young girl from a terrible fate - marrying a handsome King. But risking the wrath of GenAm and the terrifying three headed Beast is a little more action than she'd hoped for. Can a wannabe Fairy Godmother do bad to make good on her word? Buttercup Snowblossom goes by the name Bea. Buttercup is a fairy name, and Bea wants to be taken seriously. So far, however, the only person who seems to be taking Bea seriously is her landlord, a drunken gnome, and only then because he wants her rent. Life as cabbage fairy in the big city is not what Bea imagined it would be. When Bea ran away from home, she was certain she would find success in the city. She was convinced she would be snapped up by the General Administration, whizzed through training, and be a Fiction Management Executive (godmother class) before her first year was out. Before she knew it, she'd be in the human world, running stories and making a name for herself. But that was then, and this is now. Five years later, and Bea is nothing more than a plot-watcher, a skivvy for the real story-tellers. And so, bored and frustrated, Bea begins to take matters into her hands, making little changes to the stories. Nothing big, nothing serious, nothing that would get her into trouble. Well... until this last change, anyway... Even Bea can see that making a giant wall of thorns grown up around a castle might be a bit more that a little change. And now it's the middle of the night, and there's a loud banging on her door... The Fairy's Tale was rated 'Outstanding' in the 24th Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards (2016) for Plot and Story Appeal; Structure, Organization and Planning; Character Appeal and Development; Voice and Writing Style, and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar., Bea's to do list: Set up meet-cute in the woods Get the girl to the ball Engineer True Love's Kiss Wedding (Happy Ever After!!) DO. NOT. MESS. THIS. UP. Easy, right...? Apparently not. Bea, a wannabe fairy godmother, has finally been given a story of her own to manage - and to prove that cabbage fairies aren't completely useless. Only, her heroine doesn't want to marry the hero, and the ugly sister is bent on overthrowing the King. Worse still, the Royal Advisor seems to know a lot more about Bea and fairy godmothers than any human should... Bea knows she should report all this to her boss. But that would mean admitting she's a failure, that everything everyone says about cabbage fairies is true. Besides, how hard can it be to get her story back on Plot? Everyone wants to marry a Prince, don't they...? "I never thought I would say this but thank you F. D. Lee for the lack of sleep!" "I read this in one day instead of all the other things I should have been doing." "A cracking read! Subverted fairy tales are one of my favourite sub-genres, and this is a great example." "What would happen if Terry Pratchett, Neil Gaiman, Emma Newman and K.E. Mills (in her Accidental Sorcerer mode) got together and had a fairy tale themed writathon? This, my friend, is probably what would happen." The Fairy's Tale is the first novel in the internationally bestselling series The Pathways Tree from award-winning author F. D Lee. With surprising plot twists and compelling characters, The Fairy's Tale is a whirlwind adventure into the sinister world behind classic fairy tales. Please note this book is written in British English., Three guesses. Three wishes. Free choice? A new fairy godmother has one week to create a happy ending. Failure will result in a lot worse than being put to sleep for a hundred years. Whoever said fairy tales were nice ? Bea is a cabbage fairy, because there are all kinds of fairies and some of them have to be cabbage fairies, but she dreams of being so much more. She wants to be a Fiction Management Executive (godmother class) but no one at the General Administration will take her seriously - until now. When Bea is finally given a simple Happy Ever After story, she thinks all her dreams have come true. But there's something rotten behind the simplicity of the General Administration's plots. Now Bea knows the truth, she is faced with an impossible task. Can a lowly cabbage fairy stand up for what's right by saving the girl from her own happy ending, all without invoking the anger of the General Administration and its monstrous, three-headed Beast? After all, what kind of fairy godmother really cares about happy ever after? "I never thought I would say this but thank you F. D. Lee for the lack of sleep!" The Fairy's Tale is the first novel in The Pathways Tree series, the new fantasy series being compared to Terry Pratchett and Neil Gaiman. With surprising plot twists and compelling characters, The Fairy's Tale is a whirlwind adventure into the sinister world behind classic folk tales and myths. If you love genuine characters and a story you can talk about after you finishing reading, then The Fairy's Tale is for you! The Fairy's Tale was rated 'Outstanding' in the 24th Annual Writer's Digest Self-Published Book Awards (2016) for Plot and Story Appeal; Structure, Organization and Planning; Character Appeal and Development; Voice and Writing Style, and Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar. - 6***t (479)- Feedback left by buyer.Past monthVerified purchasePurchasing form this company can at times be frustrating due to items never arriving, very low shipping time and the inability to track the items. But I gave them another chance and purchased many maps and books over the past few months and have received all of them. Last year, it was hit and miss. All items were in the condition as described. Packaging is minimal. The only downside is extremely slow shipping. I rate them a C+. Nothing to gloat about but eventually you will get what you wanted.
