The Rockers ride again.
Interesting to see something that was so big here in the UK in the late 50's and early 60's just catching on in the US. As a motorcycle mechanic and bike builder myself this series was interesting to watch. From the brilliant Vincati and BSA RGS copy to the downright butchery of unwanted cycle parts by some builders. The destruction of a good Kawasaki frame just to remove the engine and the hacking up of a good stock Suzuki GS exhaust system, both of these items would have made a lot of money if sold here in the UK. Very unlucky the guys that built the Honda Hornet cafe racer fitting brand new aftermarket spoked wheels having had a front wheel bearing collapse during a test ride, I have seen lots of aftermarket parts myself that I would not even fit on a pram. Great to see this series started at the Ace Cafe in London, a mecca for Rockers, at that time, the only places young people could hear music they liked was either a record player at home or from a juke box.From that came the dangerous game of record racing, record on the juke box, dive on the bike at the Ace Cafe, Hanger Lane roundabout and back before the record stopped, speed limits and traffic laws out of the window, sadly many were killed doing this.
