  • Worth Watching for Sci-Fi Apocalypse Fans.

Pretty good Sci-Fi series. Worth the time to watch, but a little typical in the characterizations of the survivors. Mason (Noah Wiley)is a lot like Rick in Walking Dead, as abit too zealous and rigid in his Ethics and ideology. The cliche example of People becoming completely illogical towards their own survival when confronted with loss and heavy emotion. Aliens are pretty cool, though you don't get enough of them, and you get a major surprise towards episode 10 or so when you see that there are 2 vastly different types of Alien Invaders! The Harnesses are the big thing here, as the aliens put them on the children to make them zombie-like slaves. I liked the character Pope best. I will pick up season 2 on DVD as season 1 leaves you completely hanging...

  • Perfect balance of Drama and Action

Post alien attack survival drama. Nice focus on a core group comprised of a few hundred people. Noah Wylie (as Tom Mason)the history teacher who takes up arms to be 2nd in command to Will Patton (Capt.Weaver) of the 2nd Massachusetts batallion. Noah provides the thinking man's balance to By the Book Weaver. Finding safe haven, food, medicine, supplies and weapons while trying to forecast the intent of the aliens, good episodic action, drama and character developement. I especially like the ex-con anti-hero Pope (Colin Cunningham), brash, coarse and intelligent, lends a nice twist to the series. Aliens? yes, skitters ( 8 legged octo reptiles ) and Mechs ( mechanized defense robots ). A nice blend of suspense, action and drama bringing you back for more.

  • Amazing show, very well written, highly recommended

Falling Skies is one of a hand full of TV shows that I DVR. Compared to all the "fake reality TV" out there today, this show is great. Like The Walking Dead, but with aliens not zombies, it's not just about alien attacks and killing them. Very well written. It shows the interaction between the human survivers trying to make it in a world where they are being driven to extinction by an invading alien force, who kidnaps children and uses them as slave labor while killing all adults. I enjoy how the main character, Tom, played by Noah Wyle, who was a history teacher before the attacks, rallies his people by explaining how, throughout history, smaller forces have defeated larger and stronger forces. But the aliens are not the only problem the survivors need to worry about. ...

  • Humanity may become extinct if we can't find a way to defend against them!

After seeing a trailer I was sucked right in and had to buy season one ASAP. A great new take on the age old idea of aliens invading earth and taking over, but with a twist because when the visitors have a way of "harnessing" our children with their own alien species attached to their spinal cords, they now can control them and now the kids are used as mindless slaves to do the biding of our ugly extraterrestrial visitors. We are starting to regroup, find food, build forces to take on an already over powering and highly more sophisticated foe. A great cast of characters that draw you into the story with their past and present involvement in the overthrow. Special effects are pretty top notch and time is actually taken to build story lines alone with the people in them, while also ...

  • Highly recommended for fans of THE WALKING DEAD.

If you like THE WALKING DEAD, you'll probably like FALLING SKIES. Comparisons between the two are inevitable --- Tom Mason (Noah Wylie) is pretty much Rick, and both shows feature people fighting to survive. But there are differences as well. In FALLING SKIES the menace is an alien invasion rather than zombies. Civilization hasn't collapsed completely; the military is in charge of fighting the aliens, although during most of Season One, they're losing badly. The harnesses used to enslave the kids are a unique touch. The series takes a few episodes to get you hooked, mostly because it starts out with a huge cast of characters. There are perhaps a hundred people in the group of resistance fighters, and prominent characters die all the time; it takes awhile to know, or care, ...
