Everyone is interested in their family history, and in my case I have been able to trace my family's history back through the years. However this booklet adds a new dimension, the Watson family origins from a Scottish perspective. Starting with an introduction, and highlighting our motto Flourishing Unexpectedly, it sets out the timeline from the Normans / Northmen or Vikings in around 900AD right through to more recent times. In doing so it also sets out where a number of other surnames or clan names came from: this includes those names derived from colours, trades, physical traits or builds, and even activities such as hunting. Including the reason for Mac. I note although the Watsons can't necessarily be considered to be a clan of their own, the name is closely associated with the ... The booklet also covers the reasons for and effects of various battles and other tragedies where vast numbers of people lost their lives. And nearer the present day it records the famous conversation between Alexander Graham Bell and Thomas Watson - the first words ever spoken over a telephone. I have added it to my collection and shared it with the rest of my family, who found it all very interesting. In fact we're planning to visit Scotland maybe later this year to put some of the details into reality.
