The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 processor runs a front-side bus speed of 1,333 MHz with no parity. Designed with a 64-bit instruction set through Intel 64 technology, this 3 GHz processor produces a fast response time, even when running multiple applications. The 12 MB L2 Cache on this quad-core processor consists of two separate caches, each serving two cores, to deliver fast information access without reducing the response time of the processor. The Intel Core 2 Quad Q9650 supports virtualisation technology that increases the security and reliability of the entire machine. This 3 GHz processor includes built-in virus protection to guard against malware on the computer. This quad-core processor can also be optimised to enhance media performance. The Intel core 2 Quad Q9650 is designed to be energy efficient and employs SpeedStep, which reduces the power output of the processor without inhibiting its performance. Stop Gate, Sleep, and Deep Sleep technologies further reduce the CPU's output, putting the processor into an idle state.

    Can still be an excellent CPU choice for some !

    Been using Q9650 in various equipment for many years and found it to give good performance, be very reliable; and be excellent for overclocking (if that is your thing). So if still using appropriate older technology Motherboard, then I highly recommend you try this particular CPU.

    3GHz InTel C2Q Q9650 CPU

    Powerful Quad Core CPU that performs exactly as you would want and expect. After doing some research I installed it in an old Dell 755 Optiplex MT. I did have to Update the Optiplex's Bios from A19 to A22. It was very easy to get the Bios Update from Dell and although simple it was essential. To go from a C2D 2.13GHz E6400 2MB Cache 1066FSB to a C2Q 3GHz Q9650 12MB Cache 1333FSB is an incredible boost in performance. It literally made my 8 year old computer into a new machine. I did also add 240GB Intel SSD, 8GB DDR2 Ram, ASUS AMD HD 7750 GPU, 3.0 USB PCIe card,Creative Omni 5.1 USB sound card, LG 16x Blu-ray RE. EDIT: Sept 7/16 This system is now running Windows 10 Pro 64bit Ver 1607. There is a lot of info saying this CPU doesn't work with Windows 10 but I got it to install without an ...

    Just the processor upgrade I was looking for.

    Excellent upgrade from my previous Q8300 Core2Quad, although the difference between the previous 2.5 GHz & current 3 GHz is barely noticeable, the ability to enable VT *is*, I can now run 64 bit virtual machines & enable Hyper-V which I could not do previously. A sachet of thermal compound was even thoughtfully provided!
