About this product

Product Information

Hunger deepened in Ireland in 1848 as the potato crop failed again. In London, the government, alarmed by austerity in England and revolution in Europe, refused to re-open the soup kitchens in Ireland. But, worse still, they refused to halt food exports from the starving country. Emigration quickened as many were evicted, and many more fled from a wasted land. They worked the waterfronts and coal mines of America and the railways and building sites of England. But hunger still stalked them. 'Cold is the Dawn' follows these men and women and their bitter fight for survival in Ireland, England and America.

This book arrived in much better than "good" condition as described in the listing: I'd say "new and unread"! Excellent value, postage included in the price. Professionally packaged in recyclable cardboard and brown paper, very promptly dispatched and delivered via Royal Mail Tracked: 2 days purchase-to-delivery, so thanks for using Royal Mail ~ I always recommend them. Am very pleased with my purchase and happy to recommend this seller. Buy with confidence! Many thanks and best wishes, CJ.

SpeedyHen are a really classy eBay seller in my opinion. Have bought from them before with no issues. Always good on delivery and packaging. One of two items purchased this time had an issue (likely from the factory) and SpeedyHen were very quick to resolve and communication was always excellent. Will always buy from these guys when the right item comes up. A firm favourite.
