These headphones are a reasonably priced alternative to the really expensive Bose and Sony ANC headphones. The first thing to say about these headphones are that the headphones have a really good sound which errs on the side of being "fun" with a bass lift. In my opinion it's enjoyable and I'm not a bass head. They have good quality throughout the midrange and treble ranges. There is excellent separation and instruments are well-defined. Of course, opinions on sound are subjective and personal. However, I will say that these are a lot better than some Anker Q20 plus which I bought and duly returned when I listened to them and that's despite them having an app equaliser. The Philips leave the Anker's behind, the Philips being so much better IMHO. When it comes to the ANC operation, I personally think that these headphones are greatly assisted by the fact that the passive sealing of the headphone is already excellent and that the ANC setting doesn't add much more. Your mileage may be different. They are pretty comfortable but can be a little tight if you are a spectacles wearer like myself. Battery life is very good - about 30 hours. Some people complain about the touch controls being too sensitive, but spend a day with them and get used to how use the controls and I think they're really good. Unfortunately, they don't support aptX Bluetooth codec, which is something Philips were really remiss in not including this more up to date codec which so many devices have by default. They support SBC. I don't find this a problem as I mainly stream music from my music player and it is totally fine. If you stream with video, you may find there is a slight sync problem. That's SBC for you. Sometimes it's not too bad but not 100%. The range of the Bluetooth v5 on these headphones is excellent. They're foldable and can be placed in a compact case. Do I recommend them? I do as I really do like them for listening and I have tried a number of headphones including some more expensive headphones I use at home for serious listening. However, if video sync is important to you, you may want to give these a miss. Philips really missed a trick in not including aptX. Read full review
