About this product

Product Information

Directed by animation legend Hayao Miyazaki, SPIRITED AWAY is the tale of Chihiro (voiced by Daveigh Chase), a young girl who is taken down an unusual road by her parents while moving to a new home in an unfamiliar town. The curiosity of Chihiro's mother (Lauren Holly) and father (Michael Chiklis) leads the reluctant child into what appears to be an abandoned amusement park. Soon her parents are greedily feasting on various delights from an enticing food stand and are literally turned into pigs. The frightened and bewildered girl then encounters a young man named Haku (Jason Marsden), who explains what she must do to navigate this strange and magical realm. Finding employment in a hotel for spirits and other odd characters--including kimono-wearing frogs, lumbering tentacled monsters, and a mysterious apparition named No Face--Chihiro attempts to figure out how she can free her parents from the clutches of the resort's owner, a powerful witch named Yubaba (Suzanne Pleshette). In the process, she makes some very eccentric friends--and has to deal with some notoriously stinky customers.<BR>A surreal adventure reminiscent of Lewis Carroll's ALICE IN WONDERLAND, SPIRITED AWAY continues Miyazaki's streak of groundbreaking animated films that also includes PRINCESS MONONOKE and MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO. Succeeding MONONOKE as the most successful film in Japanese cinema history, this charming movie follows its own bizarre yet engaging logic as it reveals a cast of fascinating characters and jaw-dropping settings through stunningly beautiful hand-crafted animation. A movie experience like no other, SPIRITED AWAY is sure to enchant audiences of all ages, leaving viewers grinning with a giddy sense of wonderment.

Andy of Banz1 was very fast with communication with me, and he was kind enough to trust me and remove the signed for on postage so that I would have no issues with receiving it. This seller put the customer first, treated me with a lot of respect and upon making my order it was dispatched the next morning (I ordered late at night, so very, very fast dispatch). The product is in superb condition as was listed on here and this is an honest and brilliant seller with an amazing service. 10/10

    Fantastic dvd

This is one of the best anime movies I have ever watched. Miyazaki has an amazing talent when it comes to Japanese tales. I watch this with my great grandson and he loves it too. I highly recommend it.

  • Beautiful!

Many of Miyazaki’s films have female lead characters which rather nice. The soundtrack is a delight. My daughters loved the film so this copy is for their cousin in S.America who’ll be watching in Spanish. Be careful though, once you’ve experienced Miyazaki films, you’ll want them all!!!!

  • Mesmerising!

My 14 year old son had seen this a few years back and insisted I watch it. After much nagging, I reluctantly purchased, and then watched this film, and I was 'blown away' by it. I've never been so engrossed and emotionally 'drawn in' by an animated (or come to that, a non-animated) film. It's a child's journey (main character) through attempts to save her parents from a terrible mystical fate, and a real 'journey' it is. The plot and is touching and fascinating, and stunning visually, don't let the fact that it's animated, fool you into thinking it's a kids film. I'm not a huge Jonathan Ross fan, however his review on the front cover, couldn't be more fitting 'Without doubt, one of the greatest animated films I've ever seen'.

  • Engaging protagonists, but advise caution for younger viewers to watch

I enjoyed this film, but my daughter aged 7 found certain parts too scary to watch and even for me certain characters going through metamorphosis was just too creepy.
