The idea of a new species of human (homo-superior as they call it) is a good one, but the idea over what they might be is as daft now as it was back then! Homo-superior can communicate by telapthy, teleport at will and is incapable of killing. No objection to communication by telepathy, but being able to appear and disappear at will, but incapable of killing, is almost taking the.p*** ! So the world is divided into us (homo-sapiens) and them (homo-superior) with the latter very much in the minority. Well, the lead character certainly doesn't come across as one of us, so it's no surprise he's one of them!! Anything else to dislike? The acting is lamentably poor, and at times the characters are very stilted, with one of the group always booming away in a loud, Cockney accent, which really spoils you getting lost in the plots. Each episode is about 23 minutes, but 3.5 minutes are taken up with the boring but addictive theme tune and title cast. On the early series, they can be skipped at the touch of a button, but not with the later series (which requires you to fast-forward to the start of the program to do this). As each adventure usually has at least three episodes, neglecting beginning and end, you'll be needing to do this at least four times! This really gets on your nerves and also prevents you from getting lost in the plot. The idea of homosuperior males being incapable of killing, abhorring violence, and in essence rather effeminate, will not appeal to the 'red blooded'. Okay, it's the 21st century, and there's a lot more tolerance over alternative life styles compared to back then, but I'm sure many parents of teenage sons, would worry about the portrayal of masculinity (or rather the lack of it). Technical quality is appalling. The episodes are black and white, and the lack of special effects, and good filming techniques, makes it all seem like a very amateurish production, even compared to some Sci-fi productions of the 1960s, like 'The Invaders'. Anything going for it? Some of the plots are very good, and would've made excellent Dr Who episodes! Overall, it's just not worth bothering with. Unintelligent, boring, stilted, frustrating and amateurish is how I'd sum it up. You never really get into the characters; they're largely inscrutable and the acting is just too poor!Read full review

This is a TV series I loved in my Teens. I loved the concept and most of the story lines. The serial nature of the programs meant that between episodes I and my friends were able to discuss what we had seen and guess what might happen in next episode. In those days the viewer had the time between episodes to let the imagination run free. Something loss in the current trends of children tv. While the acting is a bit dubious at best, the programs still hold together quite well. Some story lines should have been edit to make a more concise story. A couple should have been redrafted without the forced humour. But at the time I never noticed this. I just enjoyed the audio / visual experience. The commentaries by the actors from the show are excellent and well worth the price. Their memories put the show in context and add a lot laughs along the way. A great big thank you goes to the Revelation team that brought this set back into the public eye and to the actors who gave their time to the commentaries. Much Appreciated G. PS I would have given 5 Stars if Sammie Winmill had taken part in the commentaries. Her take on the series would have been lovely. Read full review

A very good series, brought back many memories Inevitably the effects look dated and 'cheap' compared with today, but on the whole the stories were good

Pure nostalgia for me! I bought this to refresh my childhood memories and it worked. The 'special' effects are not so special compared with todays CGI but the stories work very well both for children and, as I can now see, for adults. Some of the acting is a bit strained, some of the sets are a bit basic but it all works so well together. Return to your childhood, relive the adventures of The Tomorrow People.
Ok So the special effect arent as special as i remember.. But But this was my favourite program when i was a kid, so wanted to be a tomorrow person. I have binge watched 3 series so far...
