It does not fit 2009 V-Strom DL1000, but will be used. Custom chain guard replaces the plastic junk that came on the bike. The metal is very strong. The hex head chrome bolts holding the black part to the silver part were loose (must be tighten) but add to the Cool Factor. Only 1 mounting bolt lines up (U can use either the frt one or the bck one). Good news, the mounting bolts are the right size. I choose the back mount to bolt - I tightened it, seems enough to hold it. Adding blue loc-tight
