The best value processor upgrade I've made! Yes cores/threads matter, but whats more noticeable is shear speed. Not many apps can use 6 cores, but all apps will like the speed. Processor has a turbo boost of 3.6 so it may be an old processor but it's no slough. 3 memory channels so it's nippy in that department to. There's debate for and against populating more than 3 RAM slots, but the rule of thumb is as big a DIMMs as you canThe best value processor upgrade I've made! Get one most enthusiasts don't realize that this model of xeon w3680 is in fact a core i7 980x same 6 cores unlocked multiplier same amount of cache but they are a higher speed binned part mine runs extremely cool idling in the teens and that's over clocked to 4ghz good watercooling can see 4.6 to even 5.0 ghz amazing fast chip at that speed for little money go on you no you want one buy it
