Great cart at a good price
I have done my research into the Goldring stylus 1042 and decided to invest my hard earned money for the love of vinyl. I already have a 1006 stylus/cartridge on my Rega P3 turntable. It is a shame that we can not hear/demo the stylus as one can not return it once used. Hence once again much study & reviews. I am now waiting patiently as it takes some time to wear in (100hrs?). So I would give 4 stars at this point in time. It is already showing a clear and detailed sound and gives a hint of a revealing musical tone. It is important to match up with your exhisting hifi system to get the best results. I would recommend even though early days and relatively new to buying different stylus’s and cartridge’s.I have done my research into the Goldring stylus 1042 and decided to invest my hard earned money for the love of vinyl. Goldring 1042 Stylus
This is what many people think is the very best moving magnet cartridge. It should be capable of a beautiful soundstage others cannot achieve. Yet I have replaced the stylus and it has lost something. I have checked every aspect of the set up, but am still disappointed. Do not imagine this is any criticism of this cartridge. It may yet run in. I just fear this is not a genuine Goldring product even though it came in the correct box.This is what many people think is the very best moving magnet cartridge. The best sound from vinyl I have yet achieved
Absolutely amazing stylus for the Goldring 1000 series cartridge. I'm using this on a Technics SL1200 MkII with an Audio Technica MG10 headshell. Stunning sound quality - solid bass and crisp highs with zero sibilance and inner groove distorion - rich and very detailed overall - best sound from vinyl I have yet achieved. I've previously had Goldring 1006, Nagoaka MP110, Audio Technica AT120, Ortofon OM series and Concordes, and the Goldring 1042 wipes the floor with them all. This is an order product but is right up there with any current stylus. It is a little finicky to set the alignment and proper weight but this is done this cartridge and stylus compares to other models in a higher price level. Highly recommended!

For more than 25 years now, I've been an audiophile enthusiast, mainly with turntables. I've tested hundreds of phono cartridges of any kind, I mean movng coils, moving magnets, moving irons and even strain gauge technologies. For moving magnet, no other than this G1042 from brittish Goldring, forget about it's apparently old design, it is a design that surpassed its time. Fritz Geiger II stylus diamond cut is for me, way batter than any other shape, including shibatas.For more than 25 years now, I've been an audiophile enthusiast, mainly with turntables.
