    I have read this book numerous times. An old, tattered copy rests on my bookshelf at this moment. I you enjoy military or alternate history, you won't be disappointed. Based during World War 2, displaced loyalists from the Revolutionary War have built their own militaristic society on the African Continent known as the "Domination of the Draka". With plantation-owning elite as the source for their "shock troop" military, and slave-serfs used as "Janissaries," they prove to be the toughest opponents in the war against Germany, all-the-while fearful of the political tension between democratic America and their owner-serf society.
