If you own "Say It Like You Mean It," then you know what this band is capable of. And I am sorry to say that this CD does not match up to "SILYMI." Say that this CD was a freshman effort by a band- it would be very, very good (I would give it a 4). But since this CD is coming from a great band such as The Starting Line, it is really just disappointing. There are standout songs on the CD that remind you of "SILYMI," but on the whole, the band tried to go a different direction and it didn't really work out too well (in my opinion).
When I bought this album, I read in a review that it was easily their best album. Well, let me tell you that it certainly is not. Say it Like you Mean it was a diverse punk/emo album with many melodies, transitions, and meaningful lyrics. I couldn't wait for this one- When I heard the first song with lyrics, "feels like making love to the camera" said over and over again in a totally whiney way, I couldn't believe my ears. As I searched the cd for better songs, it wasn't until I got to the 2nd half where I found something I could bear. It was small consolation for what was one of my most anticiapted albums of the time. If you are an all-out emo freak, maybe you will like it- but it simply wasn't catchy, interesting, or listenable.
i don't know why everyone says this albums sucks. it is AMAZING. i like all the starting line music but this one has to be my favorite. the best songs on it are "Photography" and "Stay Where I Can See You" and "ready", even though its hard to decide cause i love every song on the album. if you buy the japanese version, you get an AWESOME bonus track called nights and weekends. its the best. don't expect it to sound like say iy like you mean it though, cuz its not really like that album
This is an ok album, nothing really stands out. Say It Like You Mean It is a much better album if you like the band. None of the songs will stick in your head and you won't be remembering them.
