Awesome Experience dealing with this seller! Always quick shipping and an Eye on detail. The "Seagate Moments ** ST750LX003 ** 750GB SATA Laptop Hard Drive * 7200RPM" hard drive is one of the most reliable, quick and feature packed units from Seagate a system builder could put in use. Just the fact that Seagate tackled the question of "Fast delivery data” mixed into a bit of a quick access SSD drive without actually creating a SSD drive. This drive unit in most likely to supersede drive and the hardware industry into the 2011's without a whimper. Though I have seen a abrupt amount of failure with this unit (referred too but not experienced yet), and reports about problems (unverified in local circles) with this drive but Seagate seems to have that all under control as the manufacturer's data suggest failure rates are minimal below 3% to date. Being a big company one really doesn't know the truth out of hype but I believe I am not gambling on this one! I have installed this type from 500 GB to 1TB and all went well. Just remember the drive will adjust for the random access timing by arranging to the "Top of the List" programs as it finds itself building it's own most accessed programs database to execute a balance in the boot time. Let’s just say this drive "Thinks for Itself" and just gets better at figuring out it's booting routines after it settles down. This line of Hybrid hard drives is in my opinion the very intelligent choice of drives for the flexibility and balance of a Novice to Professional laptop builder! I upgraded my HP EliteBook 8560w original hard drive (Toshiba 512GB) with the Seagate Momentus XT Solid State Hybrid 750GB I bought on eBay. It has exceeded my expectations. Boot-up times are significantly faster for Windows 7 Professional (SP1). I like to think that program loading and cache management for FireFox, Google Chrome, and IE9 are faster now but it would take me too much time to quantify the difference. If you research the difference between this hybrid drive and a standard drive and a solid state drive, the hybrid drive uses a 32MB NAND solid state cache (many times more than standard drives) and uses something Seagate calls Adaptive Memory Technology to smartly swap the most needed data into cache so it's available quickly most of the time. This benefits boot times and any other activity on the computer that frequently requires a limited always-available data cache. The improved performance does not equal what an SSD can do but it's close and, for me, I find the price-to-value of the hybrid drive to beat a comparable sized SSD by a lot. I benefit from my increased drive capacity just as much as I do from increased response. A satisfied customer.Read full review
This hybrid drive is perfect for laptops. I use it on my MacBook Pro early 2011. It runs so smooth and it boots up in less than 20 seconds. All applications open instantly. Including heavy applications like Photoshop iTunes and Safari. It's like having an SSD that stores 750 GB of data. In terms of power consumption, I haven't noticed any difference from the momentous XT to the 5400 RPM stock drive. I absolutely love how fast and responsive my MacBook is, and also how fast it boots up and opens applications. If you are looking for an SSD and don't want to spend a whole lot of money on it, then this is the best choice you have. You will never regret buying this hard drive. I'll maybe post a video on YouTube of my MacBook Pro with this hard drive installed and post the link in this review.
I personally dont review items, but has been a few days I felt the need of try a SSD. After searching reviews on internet I started to compare different technologies of hard drives. Since I own a Seagate Momentus XT 500GB starting this year, I realize that the differents between this hybrid drive and those SSD are almost unnoticeable (several blogs and videos show that) and I as a computer intensive user who has tryed this Momentus XT in many heavy software and games, can say the perfomance of this drive is REALLY AWASOME and enough for today and some years ahead. So I ended my SSD search and decided to buy another Momentus XT but now the one with 750GB that comes in Sata III speed (leaving this for my Asus G53SX little brother, my Gateway Netbook, that in fact only supports Sata II) . I dont expect a real change but compared with a normal hard drive I deffinately recommend this as the next step in upgrading a hard drive(I think SDD is still a technology with a lot to develop). You are going to take the best decision if you decide like me, trust me, it will not dissapoint you at all!Read full review
The HD works great, brand new, and the OS and software on it worked without having to do anything. Some others I have seen require you to do all sorts of step by step patch and script gyrations in order to get the os and software to work but none of that was required for this one, just "plug and play". I would say that startup is not as fast as i would have expected but i believe this has more to do with the new os and not the HD, once the macbook is running the os then you can feel the speed of the SSD in the HD. I can not see ever buying a 'regular' HD again, and when you compare the price of a full SSD drive vs the size of this one, you get the best 'bang for the buck', speed and high storage space. I would recommend this HD, and with the software too, its well worth the price.
it was used and whiped by the vender, and tested. I have not experienced any thing wrong with it whatsoever. it is sata III hybrid that is faster then what I was using. booting Void Linux and running apps as well as transfreeing files is now qiucker then ever. I have background noise in the rooms I work in but I still do not hear the HDD. the vender that I got this from gets greats marks from me. its worth what I paid for it.

Great product and fast service makes me feel great. This hard disk works much faster than any other standard laptop disks. Boots faster as well, but what makes such a difference is the way this Sata Hybrid disk is build. For this price and 750 GB of space makes this disk a champion in this category. Of course there are faster disks, but they are all build with electronics like the SSD disks. Price between this hybrid disk and SSD is huge as well, so everyone can choose but for some will be depending from their "pocket size". That's why this disk is great, because 750GB space is affordable in comparison with SSD. Good Luck with it.
Pros: Huge upgrade from my Hitachi 7K500 500gb in all respects. Installed in my ThinkPad T400, I'm at a usable desktop with interenet connection in around 30 seconds. Programs used on a daily basis launch almost instantly, most notably Windows Live Messenger and Mail (used to take 10 or 15 seconds to launch). Price is good for the capacity and speed. Cons: Without the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver installed, windows update was not functional. This is common to ALL advanced format drives so not a con specific to this drive. Running Windows 7 x64, if that help anyone with this issue. Still earns 5 stars!
I bought this item because the 5200 rpm my asus k52jc came with was too slow and didnt let the core i5 show its potential. Now that I swaped it I have the originals laptop hdd on a case for use as a really fast a portable drive and the laptop has a bigger and faster HDD. The disk is blazing fast, windows boots in less than 40 seconds, and you can start working faster, previusly you had to wait until de HDD finished starting and the hourglass went away, otherwise it would take longer to finish booting and start your programs. For the price its a big disk and really fast, silent, dont overheats, Battery life is about the same, but you start working faster, faster and finish earlier. I dont think I need anyting faster than this for this laptop. It´s even faster than my wd caviar green on my desktop. Now working is a pleasure. before this disk I skiped cheking mail or a webpage because of the 3 minutes it took to boot up.Read full review
Yep, what you've read is true- this is a clever hard drive that will increase your boot time. I put this in my old Dell XPS M1710 running Win7 Ultimate and my cold boot time dropped from 2 full minutes on the WD Scorpio drive I had in it to less than a minute with the XT. It does need time to figure out what to put on the SSD and what to leave on the HD, but once it does it is speedy. Is it as fast a true SSD? Nah. But it's wayyy faster than a straight spinning platter HD and it's got way more capacity than any SSD you're likely to put in a crusty old laptop with SATA1. Just buy one already! It's worth it.
