    Cheap, heavy, functional

    I bought two of these. The edge was poorly sharpened - it was rolled over on both machetes. I sharpened them properly and tried them out. They are very heavy, which will tire your wrist and hand if you have more than a bit of brush to clear. The plastic handle is slippery, so you must grip it tightly, compounding the hand fatigue problem. The blade seems to be of mild steel, not real knife-quality steel with proper temper or hardening, as the thin edge bends easily. I have to sharpen it often to keep it useful. At least there's a lot of blade there, so it won't soon be all ground away. I prefer a blade with a slightly concave shape, because the convex (bellied out) blade on these slips off flexible stems when you hit them toward the end of the blade. But it's cheap, and a more functional ...
