The Canon 28 mm FD lens is a highly useful, true wide-angle lens. For instance, when a photographer requires a close-up to capture facial detail in a group portrait, the 65-degree horizontal field of view on this Canon camera lens maintains good pictorial coverage. At the same time, the f/3.5 lens's depth of field keeps both front and back rows in focus. In the FD breech-lock mounting system of this Canon camera lens, the lens and body do not rotate against each other, so users can avoid mechanical wear that alters the focus of the image. The FD mount system supports cameras with the automatic diaphragm function, full-aperture metering, and integral auto-exposure. With full aperture metering, the diaphragm on the Canon 28 mm FD lens stays at its full open position, keeping the viewfinder bright. When the shutter is released, the diaphragm closes to the aperture required for proper exposure. The f/3.5 lens features six diaphragm blades, six-element optics, as well as a minimum aperture of f/16, a minimum focusing distance of 0.4 meters, and a maximum magnification of 1:11.9 (0.084x power). The Canon 28 mm FD lens works with the A-1, AE-1, FT, and EF camera lines.
