MY NEIGHBOUR TOTORO follows Satsuke and Mei, two young girls who find that their new country home is in a mystical forest inhabited by a menagerie of mystical creatures called Totoros. Wonderful and magical
Miyazaki's homage to what he felt was his country's loss of connection to the natural world and the spirits that inhabit everything. Which is all done in his inimitable light-hearted way immediately accessible to children of all ages. The little girl Mei and then her sister are drawn into and then helped by the nature spirit Totoro.
