      Brilliant, comic and irreverent film

      Dogma’s a genuinely brilliant piece of work, from the opening disclaimers to the closing sequence. Funny, sarcastic and even disgustingly funny (in a good way) it manages to poke fun at a subject ripe for it. That said, to me the main subject of ridicule is mankind and not faith. It is often seen as being an attack on Catholicism, but repeatedly it is suggested that it is not faith at fault but mankind’s application and twisting of it. Seems a parable today more than ever.

      Hollywood stars having a lot of fun

      A film that subsequent directors and writers have obviously plundered for themes and characters. It definitely is of a time where being overly sensitive was not an issue and is first rate satire. A hoot and a half.

      Great satirical comedy

      Dogma (1999) is a great comedy. Kevin Smith's jabs at the absurdities of the catholic church still ring true. The cast are excellent, particularly Linda Fiorentino in the lead, and Chris Rock and Alan Rickman as one of Jesus' disciples and 'the Metatron', respectively.
