    Helps you see why historians struggle to explain the origins of WW1 - it goes back centuries...

    I've always wondered why my grandfather spent the First World War fighting the Turks and why they were even involved in a European war. Now I know. The book goes a long way to explain Balkan history and current middle-eastern turmoil.
