SynopsisThe sister-in-law of Clyde Barrow chronicles the escapades of her famous brother-in-law and his paramour Bonnie Parker. For this book, Phillips supplements Blanche's memoir with notes and biographical information about Blanche and her accomplices. Illustrations. Maps., Bonnie and Clyde were responsible for multiple murders and countless robberies. But they did not act alone. In 1933, during their infamous run from the law, Bonnie and Clyde were joined by Clyde?s brother Buck Barrow and his wife Blanche. Of these four accomplices, only one?Blanche Caldwell Barrow?lived beyond early adulthood and only Blanche left behind a written account of their escapades. Edited by outlaw expert John Neal Phillips, Blanche?s previously unknown memoir is here available for the first time. Blanche wrote her memoir between 1933 and 1939, while serving time at the Missouri State Penitentiary. Following her death, Blanche?s good friend and the executor of her will, Esther L. Weiser, found the memoir wrapped in a large unused Christmas card. Later she entrusted it to Phillips, who had interviewed Blanche several times before her death. Drawing from these interviews, and from extensive research into Depression-era outlaw history, Phillips supplements the memoir with helpful notes and with biographical information about Blanche and her accomplices., Bonnie and Clyde were responsible for multiple murders and countless robberies. Good read great for research

Introduction in this book really hooks you . Most books like this are overly detailed and no fun to read. Not this book. Still has all the details but there in the form of numbered notes for you to look at if you want. All kinds of extra info.. . Highly recomended

  • Most critical review

    Interesting, but could be better.

Seems to be a self serving account of Blanche's life with Bonnie and Clyde. Parts of it are interesting but she is trying to convince someone (probably herself) that she did it all for Buck. Stevie Wonder could have seen through him! I would have liked to have read more personal stories that are unknown.

  • They Robbed Banks!!

Haven't read this yet but looked at all the pictures. It is very interesting and informative. I am anxious to read it and find out about Bonnie and Clyde from Blanche Barrow who had first hand knowledge about them.

  • cliff notes

My husband wanted this book for a while so it made a great Birthday present but he says the cliff notes make it an 'awkward' read since he was flipping back and forth but otherwise was just fine.
