I contacted the seller who was vey apologetic despite it not being his fault and was immediately offered a full refund and reimbursement of my postage. It subsequently transpired the item was covered by eBay's Buyer Protection Scheme and so the seller kept his money and I received a full refund and kept the loco. The seller even suggested where to get the spare part to fix it!
