    Better image off S-Video!

Good cable. You can see that is very well built. I used to upgrade my SNES and N64 by using the S-Video conection and man, that wow'd me! I could see the improvement right on the first screen. With S-Video you can see the texts are clearer, the borders are sharp and the color well balanced. Maybe you'll se that Composite conection is giving you a better color, but that's wrong, because it's mixing a lot of information in one cable. S-Video makes a better separation, as well to the colors, so what you'll see with that is what you supposed to see from the start. Cable is thick (for most part) and robust. Buy it and you won't regret it.

  • Most critical review

    Lots of imagem noise

The SVideo or the composite on this particular cable has much much noise. The SVideo is wired to SVideo (some cables with both has composite signal wired on SVideo, not this one, it offers true SVideo but...) ...with much image noise, which makes it a bad cable -- specially if you plan to use on LCD sets or capture cards. I bought 2 cables AND I have 2 Nintendo 64 -- any combination of cable/console/conection gave me bad picture. Stay way from this cable. I use a Framemeister to upscale, but of course I tested directly to my TV too (which is LCD with SVideo input). (Oh, and of course, never using both composite and SVideo at the same time, but that does not change anything like stated on other review here, at least on my 2 cables/2 consoles tested). I hope it helps!

  • Decent as a replacement cable, but not exceptional overall.

I tried this with my SNES on a Sony Trinitron TV, and didn't really get much of a picture difference. It's a minimal upgrade at best, but still overall a bit better. Good as a replacement cable if you just don't have one. Oh, and you DO have to have all 4 connections in at once, not just the S-video and audio bits. If you're a videophile you'll want to go with one of those spendy cables that don't have the yellow connector. Anyway for less than six bucks shipped, I'd say this is worth it.

  • Works great!

These are really great cables, I have them for multiple systems. I have a few different ones and this performs as well as the others. There are complaints about noise in the picture but I've not experienced that at all. Make sure you only plug in SVideo OR the Composite video (yellow) - plugging both in at the same time will cause distortion on both. I would buy these again.

  • Best option for SNES, N64, and GC.

I've ordered these in the past for my own systems. Got this one for a friend whose brother took all the OEM AV cables for himself. Especially if you take advantage of the S-video, these offer pristine video quality. They're built quite well, too. Would reccomend to anyone with a SNES, N64, or GC.

  • Composite is good, S-Video quality is terrible

Got two of these for my N64 and Gamecube. Composite video is okay, but S-Video through my projector looks terrible. There are color issues and weird ghosting with motion. I bought a different cable for the Gamecube and the problems went away. If all you need is composite video then this cable is fine. Don't good things with S-Video.

  • Similar build and quality to the original A/V-out cable.

S-Video cable just fine. 25 year old TV S-Video port.. well, not-so-fine. Needs to be resoldered to the TV PCB. For the short periods of time I did get the TV's S-Video port to work... I realized that actually I prefer the composite. But that was before I got the RAM expander. Now have to see what S-Video plus hi-res modes look like. When I fix the TV S-Video port, that is...

  • They do work

Preforms as well as compared to the price. It's not the best video cables you can find for old Nintendo systems but it's cheap and ships within a week. Not a fan of how thin the cables are though.

  • Great but

Puts out great image quality but the s video and yellow cable give off a hum and it’s louder if both are connected nothing is wrong and they work but loud TVs will hear it

  • Not for s-video

The cables feel sturdy and well build, and the RCA cables gives a better image than expected. That said, the s-video doesn't work. It gives a horrible picture with a smeared image. Left image RCA/ Right image S-video
