Surf Rocket Racers, the first jet ski game on the Dreamcast, has you racing over unpredictable waves on a series of courses in an effort to become champion. Five computer opponents will be looking to do the same, however, and there are numerous obstacles standing between you and the finish line.
Players will have the opportunity to select from several different characters with their own individual attributes and strengths, from speed to handling ability. Once you choose a character, you can set the difficulty to one of three settings, before embarking on the various courses the game offers.
You'll be up against a pack of rough-and-tumble jet skiers who are all too eager to send you into the briny deep. You'll also have to contend with ramps and other obstacles along the course, and hopefully you'll learn how to perform barrel rolls and flips off those objects instead of wiping out on them.
Take to the Championship Mode if competition is the name of your game. In this mode you'll progress through the tracks like a traditional racing game, going for first-place finishes to garner enough points to eventually be named grand champion of the game's 15 courses.
If that isn't your speed, you can enter the Tricks & Techniques mode, which instead gives you a menu of different tricks to try out, letting you hit either an open or specially designed course to complete that level's goal. You can also challenge all manner of tricky traps in the Hazards & Obstacles mode, or race against a friend in the Head-Head mode.
