      Doc Savage ...nuff said

This is one of those movies that is so bad its good. The campy-ness of the entire thing is unbelievable, with the casting of Doc's Fab Five being the pinnacle of the mountain of silliness. The villain is awful, the premise is awful, the casting is terrible (except for Doc - Ron Ely actually does a good job of looking like the Doc of the pulp covers). The music is the capstone of terrible ..Sousa marches maligned with inane lyrics. So many things in the pulps would not pass muster today and I am certain there are parts of this movie that would offend a good number of people; but regardless this romp brought a few smiles during the viewing. It is unfortunate that Doc has not gotten a real shot at a Hollywood franchise ...goodness knows there is a ton of source material!

The movie was new, and it was in perfect condition. We had an absolutely great time watching the campy and fun old story, laughing at the fun humor and thinking of the olden days as we watched. Thank you!

    • Not quite the 'real' Doc Savage, but entertaining anyway.

I've been a Doc Savage fan since the '70s, and although this movie doesn't really live up to the potential of the character, it was a still a fun way to reminisce about the hero of my youth.

    • A flashback from my youth

I remember reading the Doc Savage paperbacks while growing up in the 70s and I remember this movie when it first came out. Is it campy? Sure. But is it fun? Absolutely. So sit back and enjoy the original action hero from before Indiana Jones, James Bond, and a million others. Even Superman can be traced back to the original Doc Savage stories from the early 1930s!

    • Nerdy Nostalgia

It got me in touch with my inner nerd. Yes, it’s campy. So what? Being a fan of the books as a kid and seeing it in the theater opon its original release I was once again transported back to the 70’s before the world got so serious. I found it funny to see after all these... decades.
