I bought this movie out of sheer curiosity literally an hour or so after hearing about it. I didn't expect much, but was pleasantly surprised. There wasn't a whole lot about the hollow mountain or the beast for that matter. The movie is more about a love triangle between a Mexican rancher, an American rancher, and a beautiful Mexican woman. The characters in the story were quite engaging and the scenery was beautiful. The special effects were weak but not as bad as I expected. I am really glad I bought it. I have not seen the other movie that came with it yet.

I bought this DVD for my nephew who loves dinosaur movies, thinking he'd like it. He did not. At the old age of 8 years, he's already jaded by modern special effects. This movie, made in the mid-1950s, was not up to his standards but it gives some good laughs because it is so bad.

This old gem from my birthyear, I'd never seen until MST3K spoofed it. And I fell on love with it. Finally found a copy rereleased through Shout Factory. The writing is not the best, the girls words and intentions are misleading and contradictory without maniacal intent. She's troubled emotionally and confusing dialog doesn't help. Guy Madison does a great job, plays the part believably well. I love both versions. The kid is convincing too. Neanderthal Man is a typical 50s attempt at horror at the expense of having no budget. The makeup effects in black and white medium and use of filters is used very well to make smooth monster closeup face changes flow two or three steps without edits and cutaways. Some acting is B grade. But lots of memorable old players. The blond guy was is another spider movie spoofed by mst3k. Nice to Robert Crane not as Rocky Jones.Read full review

Loved it. I saw this movie with my parents and brother at the drive-in movies in the 1950's. It was the scariest movie I had ever seen as a 10 year old boy. Today I laugh to see what scared me back then. Seeing it again was a great trip down memory lane!

Both disks played very well. It is an old cult favorite of my if you will. Guy Madison is great and Who wouldn't want to see Patrica Medina. Excellent I would recommend it to all Cult or classic monster or horror fans. I would give 10 stars to this movie if possible. I could hardly wait to get it. Heck of a good deal. Thanks a lot. The Neanderthal Man was a pretty decent move also. But it's no Beast of Hollow Mountain. DRS.
